Precautions against the Coronavirus

There has been a surge in demand for surgical masks in Hong Kong with the onset of the Coronavirus, but there are many other ways to protect oneself from catching viruses such as the Coronavirus. Here is a collection of suggested tips we have gathered from various sources including the CHP, the NHS in the UK and other medical sources:
AT HOME & WORK

  • Wash hands immediately upon returning after being outside
  • At home – remove shoes upon arrival
  • Maintain cleanliness in your environment
  • Where possible, secure ventilation, for example by opening windows
  • Close toilet lid prior to flushing

OUTSIDE
  • Avoid large crowds & gatherings where possible
  • Avoid consuming game meat
  • Avoid venturing out if you feel weak or under weather

IN GENERAL
  • As much as possible, avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth
  • Ensure hand hygiene – by washing or using hand sanitizer
  • Maintain a fit & healthy lifestyle
  • Maintain a healthy diet & drink plenty of water
  • Get adequate sleep
  • When having a fever or respiratory symptoms, wear a surgical mask and seek medical advice promptly
  • If you wear a surgical mask, ensure that you are wearing it correctly
  • Cover your mouth and nose with tissue paper when sneezing or coughing, then wash hands thoroughly
