Also referred to as a lipid panel, lipid profile or cholesterol test. A Lipid Profile is a complete cholesterol test conducted through analysis of blood. It is used to measure the amount of “good” and “bad” cholesterol and triglycerides, a type of fat, in your blood. The Lipid Profile is used as part of a cardiac risk assessment to help determine an individual’s risk of heart disease and to help make decisions about the best or most appropriate form of treatment if one’s results are considered borderline or high.
